Here Again

If you know me or have followed my blog for any amount of time, you then know (hold that, just saw someone drive by with a baby in their lap, wait, what?!)
Sorry! So you would know that I am sometimes AWFUL at getting a new post up and out there. It's not because I don't have good intentions, but I just don't have the time!! So it's not uncommon to see a gap of posts and then see a "catch up" post to get you up to speed.
It appears my last post was SOMETIME last summer. So since then here is a quick recap!
School started and Caroline went to Kindergarten. She has ROCKED it. She has become an even more awesome reader than she was before, and I swear she is the smartest kid in her class (HEHE). She's going on her 3rd season of Softball playing for the "Pink Unicorns", and she got her ears pierced this year!

Hudson also switched schools to be closer to home, and he has changed SO much. He's almost 18  months old now, walking, babbling, throwing tantrums, and in January had ear tubes put in so besides allergies he's been pretty infection free!! It's been liberating.

The kids are BFFS, play so well together, both obsessed with our dog and totally overly obsessed with playing anything and everything outdoors. Which given that it's been a BEAUTIFUL winter in Texas, has been pretty 'doable'.

Ryan is still working and traveling. He's been to Hong Kong, Germany, LA a lot, New York, Ohio, etc. in the past year. He claims he would rather be home with us, but secretly I know going out and playing darts with the guys for "business dinners" is not something he's totally depressed about either.  HA!

Me? Well ya know, the usual. Working part time still, running Courtney Fry Photography , and since school started I got back into running for the first time since High School. What started as a way to potentially loose a little weight, turned in to a down right OBSESSION and challenge. I trained and completed a 10K this past November, did a 15K in Las Vegas in February, and recently just completed the Little Rock Half Marathon with my sister-in-law in March. I'm still running, but I'm currently cutting back on the mileage and training to 1. recover from an IT band injury and 2. run for the love of running for a few months, just the refresh and renew my passion.

I'm still attached to my camera and taking pictures of anything and everything in our world. You can follow along on my instagram @ms.courtneyjofry to keep up with the latest and greatest.
As for family updates as a whole?
We did Disney World in October.
We bought a 12ft. Christmas tree this year (it was amazing).
We have a trip to Key West planned this fall.
And who knows what other adventures we will find between now and then!
As I channel my inner creative nut, I will be back {hopefully} with some more recent blogging.
For now- I have kids to pick up from school, and a 80 degree sunny & windy March afternoon to tend to!

The Power of Storytelling: Our Everyday Life For Real | Lifestyle Photography McKinney, Texas

Wednesday, July 29, 2015

I'm always telling people about my love for Lifestyle photography and storytelling. Most people just look at me with a blank stare, or text back "what is that?"

A few weeks ago I wrote a post on what lifestyle photography is and why it's important over on my business blog. You can check it out: here

It's one thing to talk about something, but putting it in action is another.

I have been slowly gathering different "stories" about my family as part of a project I'm working on, and I thought I would share my most recent.

Outdoorsy

Saturday, July 4, 2015

As some of you who follow me on Facebook know, our kiddos are obsessed with their swing set. It's one of those things that you figure after a few days of fun, they would be over it, but that's not the case with these outdoor lovin kids.

Caroline asks almost everyday to go play out in the backyard, and we rarely say "no".
Hudson loves it too. Since he's clearly too big for his baby swing inside now, his outdoor swing is so relaxing for him in the evenings, sometimes he even starts to fall asleep!

This year Caroline has learned how to swing herself, which has been both awesome and kinda sad. She can go out and play whenever without needing a "boost", but it's crazy the independent girl she has become. There are few things that she really NEEDS help with on a daily basis, and this momma is kinda sad about that.

We love being outside as a family, and we spend a lot of time out there. Whether it be in the back yard swinging and playing soccer, or in the front checking out the latest in Caroline's rock collection, these are our summer nights. Does it get any better than this????

N. Little Rock Quicktrip

Wednesday, July 1, 2015

A few weekends ago, we made a trip up to North Little Rock to visit Ryan's sister and family, and attend some good friends' wedding.

They just built a new home, and we had fun breaking in the guest quarters!

Hudson is such a great traveler (Just Like His Sister!)

Their family is full of two early risers, so Hudson and I enjoyed having some company early in the morning to play! Also, I may have been *slightly* obsessed with her fun rug!!

Mo the Boston Terrier was all about the camera. It's like she seriously wanted her picture taken, so who was I to deny her some lens time??

We went to lunch downtown, after an...interesting trolley ride that involved old people, being stranded on a bridge, and ended with Trip hollering at people! haha.
Didn't have my good camera, but snapped a few pics from lunch on Ryan's iPhone... proof I was there too!

It stormed really bad part of the way home, which caused the drive to take FOR. EV. ER.

Overall, we LOVE our trips to visit family. Our kiddos don't get to see their cousins near enough, but we try hard get them together as much as possible. So for now...

PS: I had to sneak in a picture of them relaxing on Saturday afternoon. I said I wouldn't post any (but they are so sweet!)

Hudson's World

Thursday, June 18, 2015

The other day Hudson was crawling around the floor, and kept stopping and putting pieces of grass him his mouth. I would take it away, and then search the floor for any remaining pieces. I would find one or none, and move on. Next thing I know, he would have another blade in his hands!

I couldn't see the little tiny things he was looking at. It made me wonder what the world looks like from his point of view, so I took a little time this week to get on his level.

I love his world!

Little Fingers &

Little Toes

Perspective is everything! If you have kids or grandkiddos, try this exercise.
1. Take your Camera or Iphone or whatever you've got and set it on the floor.
2. Layout on your stomach so you are in the same "zone" as your little one.
3. Shoot away. Image quality may not be the best (we find more shadows the lower we go), but the perspective can be a refreshing spin on your at home photography.
